Here, Gurcharn Singh Chehel (his Gotra) from Tarna Dal (Baba Baldev Singh Bal) was dyeing his clothes blue in a bucket of steaming dye, on a very chilly morning.<br />
He is a nihang, and was very proud of this. He wore his white khalsa t-shirt to show me, then took it off and threw it in the bucket to dye it blue.

  • In Sikhism, women & men are equals, but the path of a Nihang is hard for women as society is not yet as progressive as the ideology. However, in 2012, a Texan, Harsangat Raj Kaur, of Persian and Swedish origin, attended her first Hola Mohalla and was the 1st girl to race a horse. She hoped to ride in the procession this year with the Biddichand Dal, but due to concerns for her safety, she was not given a horse but had the honour of leading the procession from atop an elephant.
