Hola Mohalla

Hola Mohalla is an annual Sikh festival that takes place around the time of the Hindu festival of Holi. It marks the establishment of the Khalsa Panth - the martial wing of the Sikh people, by Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru in 1699. It takes place in Anandpur Sahib, around the Gurudwara where he formed the Khalsa, called Keshgarh Sahib.
The various 'Dals' or 'Deras' take part in a procession through the town to the stadium, where the Nihangs ride their horses, and exhibit 'Gatka'. There are immense crowds that have to keep running away from the galloping horses.
