Hola Mohalla is an annual Sikh festival that takes place around the time of the Hindu festival of Holi. It marks the establishment of the Khalsa Panth - the martial wing of the Sikh people, by Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru in 1699. The various 'Dals' or 'Deras' take part in a procession through the town to the stadium, where the Nihangs ride their horses, and exhibit 'Gatka'.
